Voice (Classical)

Carine Tan

Carine Tan is a Singaporean soprano who made her solo operatic debut at twenty with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in their 2022 concert A Musical Tumble Through Time, returning to the SSO stage in 2024 to sing the soprano solo in Mozart's Laudate Dominum under guest conductor Stephen Layton. She has been a finalist in the 2025 and 2026 NAFA Vocal Competition and a semi-finalist in the 2018 Singapore Lyric Opera ASEAN Voice Competition, and has refined her artistry in masterclasses with Vladimir Chernov and Marilla Homes.

A member of the Singapore Symphony Youth Choir since 2019, she also performs as a freelance soprano with ensembles such as Chroma. She studies under soprano Joyce Lee Tung at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).

I believe artistic excellence comes from a balance of discipline, dedication, and trust. I encourage students to build strong technical foundations through consistent effort, in a warm and supportive environment where they feel understood and confident in their teacher's guidance. Building rapport is central to how I teach. While honouring the traditions of classical singing, I help students cultivate a genuine love for music, discover their own artistic voice, and forge their own meaningful path.
