Luka
Luka is a choral conductor under the mentorship of Dr Darius Lim and a vocal student at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts under Joyce Lee Tung. A former member of the Singapore Symphony Children's Choir and then Voices of Singapore, he is well versed in the choral scene and has made conducting debuts at venues including CHIJMES, the Victoria Concert Hall, and St Patrick's Cathedral in New York.
As an educator with Voices of Singapore, he has taught children from age five in the Little Singers through to the Intermediate Choir, and he leads VOX Angeli, an ensemble focused on Baroque and Renaissance polyphony. He holds an ABRSM Grade 8 (Distinction) in Music Theory.
I am greatly inspired by the work of Zoltan Kodaly and his method. By integrating fun, everyday syllabic sounds into the daunting task of picking up music, theory becomes practical and enjoyable rather than distant and purely academic. I believe everyone has an innate musical ear waiting to be discovered, and through the Kodaly method I aim to help the next generation of musicians discover their talent.
